Recognized as one of the best Blackball players of his generation, the 2023 IPA World Champion is now partnering with Strachan and Aramith, official cloth and ball suppliers of the IPA Tour.
Born in 1987 in England, Clint I’anson started playing pool at a very young age in his Dad’s arcade room. Himself a talented pool player, his dad saw his son’s potential and set up a pool room at home when he was 11. Clint I’anson started competing in tournaments soon after until he finally ranked in the Top 64 national players, turned professional and joined the IPA Tour at 19 years-old.
In 2013, he claimed his first professional title at the IPA Players Championship. The year after, he became IPA World Champion runner-up after being defeated by Gareth Potts in the final. Despite missing out on his first World Championship title, Clint I’anson’s career and popularity took off quickly from there.
In 2015, he became IPA UK Champion. Two years after, he claimed the IPA European title. The holy grail came in 2023 when he became the IPA World Champion.
No. 1 in the World ranking, Clint I’anson was introduced in 2018 to the world of Heyball by his friend and former blackball opponent Gareth Potts, who transitioned amazingly well into this ever-growing discipline. Clint I’anson managed to claim 2 WPA Heyball Champion of Champions titles back-to-back in 2024 and 2025.
Clint I’anson’s objective now is to refocus on Blackball on the IPA Tour to climb back up the world ranking. He won the IPA British Professional Championship in May, the 2nd event of the season, and is now ranked in the Top 10. So far, Clint I’anson has already claimed 1 IPA World Championship, 3 IPA European Championships and 5 IPA UK Championships.
The IPA Tour players compete on the Strachan 861 cloth. This worsted cloth is used by many national and international federations. Known for its durability and speed, it also requires no ironing. The Strachan 861 cloth provides a flat, flawless playing surface.
The Super Aramith Pro-Cup also remains the IPA Tour’s official and exclusive ball set. Played in virtually all major amateur and professional tournaments, it offers precise calibration of each ball for maximum consistency within the set. It also provides outstanding endurance with a through-hardened vitrified surface for exceptional scratch and impact resistance. Its 6-dot cue ball enables precise shots and ball repositioning.
